Profile:
Catherine joined IEEP in 2002, having previously studied Environmental Sciences and worked on impact assessment and indicators in local government. Catherine has been actively involved in numerous research projects and also plays a major role in the Institute's advisory services, manages the Institute’s information work and the production of IEEP’s flagship publication, the Manual of Environmental Policy. She is actively involved in IEEP's Climate Programme having extensively researched the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and its regulation, and bioenergy solutions.
Catherine has a detailed knowledge of the UK institutions as well as those at the European level; she as worked extensively with the Environment Agency and Defra. This regional knowledge is complemented by knowledge of the US systems of environmental governance. Between October 2006 and March 2007, Catherine spent 6 months working from Washington DC based with the Natural Resources Defence Council's (www.nrdc.org) International Programme. While in the US she helped establish an ongoing joint project between IEEP and NRDC, developing a series of Transatlantic Dialogues on climate and energy, and marine protection.
